Where does the name come from?
From "duo" and "love". Two people at a time, one of them to choose: the name says exactly what the app does.
What will the app never give up?
Three choices drive everything else: the face-off instead of the swipe, translation on demand instead of a language filter, and closeness instead of volume.
Those choices hold each other up. The face-off slows discovery down on purpose, translation avoids ruling people out for the wrong reason, and closeness keeps meetings possible. Visibility cannot be bought: the order profiles appear in is the same for everyone.
