Safer dating

Meeting someone should stay a pleasure. A few simple habits protect you online and in real life.
Before you meet someone
- Keep it in the app at first. No number, address or social media before you feel comfortable. In Dualove, an inappropriate message can be reported; elsewhere, it can't.
- Take your time. A video call before you meet is a good way to check that the person is the one in the photos.
- Check that things add up. Photos, age, story: if something feels off, trust your doubt. A reverse image search often clears things up.
- Never money. No one serious will ask you for money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, codes or investment tips. Report it right away.
- No intimate photos. They can be used against you. If someone threatens to share them: don't pay, keep the evidence, report the person to us and contact the police.
The first date
- In a busy public place, preferably in the daytime: a café, a park, a terrace.
- Let someone close to you know: with whom, where, when. Share your location if you can.
- Stay in control of how you get there and back: your own transport, both ways.
- Keep an eye on your drink and keep a clear head.
- You are free to leave at any time, without explaining yourself. Your instinct is right.
Warning signs
- Refuses any call or video, or keeps postponing the meeting.
- Wants to leave the app very quickly for another messaging service.
- Declares intense feelings after a few days.
- Tells of an emergency, an accident, being stranded abroad, then asks for help.
- Talks about money, investments or cryptocurrency.
- Insists after a no, or asks for intimate photos.
Reporting and blocking
- From a profile or a conversation, you can report and block in two taps. The person is never told, and you disappear for each other.
- Every report is reviewed by a person, normally within 24 hours.
Need help now?
- In immediate danger, call 112 (European Union, Switzerland and the United Kingdom) or 999 (United Kingdom).
- For sexual or domestic violence, your country's helplines are there, free and confidential.
- For everything else: hello@dualove.app, or the help section in the app's settings.
