Child safety standards
Version 1.0, published on
Dualove is a dating app for adults only. Child sexual abuse and exploitation has no place on it: this is the one rule with no degrees, no warning and no second chance. This document sets out our standards, what we do to enforce them and how to alert us. It complements the Community rules, the Terms of use and the Privacy policy.
1. An adults-only service
- Dualove is not for anyone under 18. Your date of birth is asked at sign-up, and a declared age under 18 ends the sign-up there and then.
- An account that turns out to belong to a minor is deleted immediately and its data is not kept.
- If a profile looks like it belongs to a minor, report it: the reason "Seems to be under 18" exists for that, and we close the account as soon as we establish the person is a minor.
- There is no version of Dualove aimed at minors, and nothing in the app is addressed to them.
2. What is forbidden, with no exception
- Any child sexual abuse material, in any form: photo, video, drawing, generated image, text. Posting it, sending it, asking for it, describing it, trading it or pointing to where it can be found.
- Any sexual approach to a minor, including grooming, sextortion and blackmail.
- Trafficking, prostitution and sex tourism involving minors, and any attempt to arrange a meeting with a minor.
- Sexualising a minor: sexualised images of a child, sexual talk about a child, or presenting someone as a minor for that purpose.
- Posing as a minor, or making it known that you are looking for one, in a profile or in a message.
None of this earns a warning: the account is banned permanently, its content is removed and the case is passed to the authorities.
3. What we do with a report
- Every report is reviewed by a person, normally within 24 hours. Reports involving a minor are handled first, ahead of everything else.
- A report freezes a copy of the content concerned, including the last 30 messages of the conversation: removed content stays available to moderation and to the authorities who ask for it, even after the account is closed.
- Profile photos and photos sent in a conversation fall under the same rules. A removed photo disappears from both sides of the conversation.
- A banned account cannot come back, and any attempt to get around a ban is treated as the original breach.
- What is needed as evidence for an investigation is kept apart from the rest, only for as long as necessary, as the Privacy policy explains.
4. How to report something to us
- In the app: open the profile or the conversation, then "Report". It takes seconds, it is available at any time, and the person reported never learns who reported them.
- By email: hello@dualove.app, which is also our point of contact for authorities, child protection organisations and security researchers.
- If a child is in immediate danger, call the police first: 112 in the European Union and Switzerland, 999 in the United Kingdom and Ireland, 911 in Canada and the United States.
5. Reporting to the authorities
- We comply with the child protection laws of the twelve countries where Dualove is available and cooperate with the competent authorities.
- Any child sexual abuse material found on Dualove is reported to the competent authorities, and to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) for anything falling under United States law.
- Illegal content can also be reported to the national hotline of your country, including the hotlines of the INHOPE network, and in France to the Pharos platform.
- We answer valid legal and administrative requests and keep the material requested for as long as the proceedings require.
6. Contact us
- Point of contact for anything to do with child safety, including for authorities and app stores: hello@dualove.app.
- We answer in French, English, Spanish, German and Italian.
- These standards are reviewed whenever the service changes, and at least once a year.
7. The other documents
The Community rules, the Terms of use, the Privacy policy, the Safety tips and the Legal notice are published on the website and in the app, in the five interface languages.
