How the face-off works

Using Dualove in five steps

From install to first conversation, there is nothing else to learn.

   Create your account

   With a phone number, an email address, Apple or Google. A code sent by text or email checks it is really you. The app is for adults only.

   Fill in your profile

   First name, date of birth, city, languages you speak, a bio. Photos are optional: without one, a neutral silhouette stands in for you, and you can add photos later.

   A face-off opens

   Two people appear side by side: first name, age, city and how far away they are. Between them, a single word: or.

   You give your heart to one of them

   The heart goes to the profile you prefer. If neither speaks to you, "Neither" moves to the next round without using up any of your daily limit.

   A match opens the conversation

   If that person liked you too, it is a match and the conversation opens. Each of you writes in your own language, the Translate button handles the rest.

Why two profiles instead of one?

Because choosing between two people means looking at both. A single profile invites a reflex, yes or no; two profiles side by side invite a comparison, and therefore real attention.

Swipe apps run on volume: the more you scroll, the longer you stay. The face-off does the opposite. Every round asks for a decision, and a decision tires faster than a reflex. That is deliberate: the point is for you to meet someone, not to spend your evening in the app.

One direct consequence: there is no pass button. You are not rejecting anyone, you are preferring someone.

What happens to the profile I did not pick?

It is set aside by nobody. It can come up again later, next to someone else, after a short rest. Not picking someone is not a rejection, and is never reported to them.

Nobody is told they lost a face-off. The only notifications Dualove sends are about your matches, your messages and, if you turn them on, digests of the likes you received.

How many face-offs a day?

Without a subscription, 20 face-offs a day. Each choice comes back to you exactly 24 hours after you made it, never all together at midnight.

In practice: use your 20 choices on a Tuesday at 9 pm and rounds come back on Wednesday from 9 pm, one by one, in the order you used them. A reset at midnight pushes you to burn everything at once; this does not.

"Neither" costs nothing, and going back on a face-off gives its slot back. Dualove Plus lifts the limit entirely.

• Dualove Plus: unlimited face-offs, radius up to 200 km, the list of people who liked you, and going back on your last face-off.

And after the match?

The conversation opens on both sides. You can write to each other, send photos and translate any message with one tap. Neither of you can write before the match.

Sending photos in a conversation is open to everyone, not only to subscribers. One photo per message, no caption, shown directly in the bubble.

At any point you can block a profile or report it. A report stops messages in both directions while it is reviewed.
