Close to you, without saying where you live
A story rarely starts three hours down the motorway. Dualove shows you the people in your neighbourhood and your city first, without ever saying where you are.
How far does the search go?
Without a subscription, up to 50 km around you. With Dualove Plus, up to 200 km. You choose the radius and it applies to every face-off.
The distance on each card is rounded to the kilometre, and shown in miles in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It tells you whether suggesting a coffee tonight is realistic, and nothing more.
Can people see exactly where I am?
No, never. Nobody receives your coordinates. Others see your city and a rounded distance, worked out from a deliberately wrong point: enough to know whether a coffee is doable, never enough to find your building.
That point does not move from one day to the next: comparing what several accounts see brings nobody closer to your door.
And you never have to turn location on: picking your city by hand works just as well.
Why closeness rather than volume?
Because a match 400 km away almost never turns into a meeting. Searching less far gives fewer profiles, but people a drink is still possible with.
It is also what makes the face-off fair: two people from your city compare, two people three hundred kilometres apart do not.
Where is Dualove available?
In twelve countries across Europe and North America: France, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada and the United States.
The app comes in five languages. Distances are shown in kilometres, except in the United Kingdom, Ireland and the United States, where they are in miles.
Questions about location and distance
Does Dualove track my movements?
No. Your position is used to compute a distance at discovery time. No movement history is built.
Can I use the app without allowing location access?
Yes. You pick your city from a list and the distance is computed from its centre. That choice is open to everyone at sign-up; changing it afterwards is part of Dualove Plus.
Could someone work out my address from the distances?
No. The distances shown do not start from your real position, and cross-referencing them leads nowhere.
Can I change my search radius?
Yes, at any time in the settings: up to 50 km on the free tier, up to 200 km with Dualove Plus.
